Individual therapy
We offer trauma-focused strengths-based therapy to individuals, using a variety of modalities that each therapist tailors to your specific trauma history, attachment style, and nervous system. Some examples include:
With adolescents and adults, using CBT techniques, we will focus on replacing negative thinking with positive self-talk and adapting positive coping mechanisms.
Through Somatic Experiencing techniques, we can tap into physical and emotional symptoms associated with trauma -- locked in the body -- and guide you into identifying and utilizing the innate healing capacity in your body. This approach is particularly useful with shock trauma.
Assertiveness skills release an individual from their barriers to asking for what they want and attracting those who can meet their needs.
Inner child work may be used to identify soothing techniques. This allows us to visualize a protector that was not present, identify our agency, or mobilize out of a freeze response.
When working with children, we will be engaged in play therapy sessions to encourage creativity, communication, and connection. This allows us to tap into the child's natural "language" and innate wisdom to facilitate deep healing.
