My Approach
Working in schools, homeless shelter, UNICEF, Yale’s Baby Lab, creating outpatient therapy offices, and traveling internationally put the focus on relationships and attachment. I became passionate about studying how we relate to one another — particularly how we learn to regulate as infants. Where does it all begin? Attachment is formed in the first few years of life, the pre-verbal years. This can be why inner child work, incorporating art + music + play can be so powerful.
The way I work with people comes from a relational and attachment lens. It starts with the premise that humans crave connection, we yearn to be understood and understand others. Often people are seeking therapy to heal themselves, improve communication with loved ones, or self-regulate.
The focus of my work was always trauma-informed: How do we heal from trauma? How do we form coping skills? Can we do this without rehashing our painful past?
As a Somatically trained therapist, I will offer techniques to help you access safety and ease within your body. Using Somatic Experiencing techniques, we can tap into physical and emotional symptoms associated with trauma -- locked into the body -- and guide you into identifying and utilizing the innate healing capacity in your body. You will leave our sessions with tools to use in your daily life to help you feel in control of your body and emotions.
I am here to help you connect, find safety in your body & advocate for your needs.
I offer trauma-focused strengths-based therapy to individuals, caregivers, and families.
One of client’s favorite parts of their work with me is that I offer homework! This offers a bridge between sessions and way for you to integrate the skills you learn into your life.
